About Corinna Wood
A gifted teacher and powerful visionary, Corinna Wood has opened the hearts of thousands to the wisdom of the plants and their own bodies. She is the Director of Red Moon Herbs, an herbal medicine company focused on making medicines from fresh, local plants, with a focus on women's health, since 1994.
Over the last 15 years, Corinna has taught hundreds of educational programs in Herbal Medicine, Women’s Health & Natural Healing. In addition to her classes at the Appalacian School of Holistic Herbalism, Earthaven Ecovillage, and Red Moon Herbs, Corinna has been a presenter at numerous conferences including Medicines from the Earth, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association Conference, Southeast Women's Herbal Conference, and the Organic Growers School. She also is a frequent guest teacher at Southeastern colleges including Warren Wilson College, University of North Carolina at Asheville, and Guilford College.
Corinna's background includes a B.S. in biology and an extensive apprenticeship with world-renowned Susun Weed. Corinna is certified as an Herbalist, a Fertility Awareness Teacher, and also in Permaculture Design.
In these times, even herbal medicine is following in the footsteps of the pharmaceutical industry, becoming increasingly disconnected and removed from the source. Corinna’s mission is to empower people to trust the wisdom and the cycles of the plants, the earth, and their own bodies. In carrying on the Wise Woman tradition, she empowers students to develop personal relationships with a group of local herbal allies. Her hands-on, in-depth style of teaching makes it easy for students to incorporate the plants into their daily lives.
Corinna lives with her son at Earthaven Ecovillage, the intentional community where Red Moon Herbs is based, in Black Mountain, NC. All the wood for Red Moon Herbs' and Corinna's home comes from the land, and all the power comes from the sun. Since 1997, Corinna has been one of the early members and leaders in the process of bringing the vision of the ecovillage into manifestation.
